Northrop Grumman is seeking Environmental, Health and Safety Engineers. This position will be located at our Mission Systems Sector in Woodland Hills, CA.
The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Environmental, Health, Safety & Fire Protection within the Mission Systems Operations organization.
As an intern, you'll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of manufacturing engineering specializations that may include:
Roles and Responsibilities
Participate in and conduct inspections for compliance. Recognize, evaluate and implement controls to reduce environmental, health or safety impacts to the workforce and environment.
Manage accumulated data using a variety of management software systems to generate reports and metrics to communicate/demonstrate compliance of EHS programs.
Assist EHS staff in evaluating regulatory compliance of sector sites with federal, state, local and/or internal procedures.
Engage in EHS-related outreach activities by presenting on safety topics; participate in and/or assist in organizing employee educational and awareness events.
A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2021.
Be majoring in Public Health, Safety, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Fire Protection, Engineering Sciences or closely relate discipline
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2021
Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher
Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
Experience in developing and delivering presentations and leading small groups
Good presentation and writing/communication skills with an eye for detail
Self-motivated, willing to learn, and able to collaborate with cross-functional teams environment
Experience in working on business or engineering full life-cycle projects from inception through launch
Experience in working in an autonomous work environment on complex projects
Able to prioritize projects and work diligently without an assigned deadline
