Northrop Grumman Engineer - Electromechanical 2/3 in Woodland Hills, California

Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world we live in. Our Woodland Hills, CA location is looking for an Electromechanical Engineer 2/3 to join the Sensors & Payloads Engineering Department. The candidate will conduct research and development of new sensor products (gyroscopes and accelerometers) as well as sustainment to current sensor products (gyroscopes and accelerometers) used for position, navigation and timing (PNT) applications.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Sensor Design

  • Design & Analysis of sensor control loops

  • Sensor system & integration/test comprised of requirement decomposition, component selection/documentation, sensor characterization and verification testing.

  • Finite Element Analysis

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

The minimum requirements for a Level 2 position are a Bachelor's degree in related STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree in a related STEM degree and 0 years experience.

The minimum requirements for a Level 3 position are a Bachelor's degree in related STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree in a related STEM degree and 3 years experience, or a PhD in a related STEM degree and 0 years experience.

Additional requirements include:

  • Experience in MATLAB scripting and analysis

  • Experience in Mechanical Design or Manufacturing

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with gyroscope or accelerometer development

  • Experience with any of the following inertial sensor technologies: MEMS based gyroscopes and accelerometers, Fiber optic gyroscopes (FOG), hemispherical resonator gyroscopes (HRG), Ring Laser Gyroscopes, and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance gyroscopes (NMR).

  • Experience with Control Systems

  • Experience with MEMS design

  • Experience in hands-on lab and/or qualification testing

  • Experience in inertial instrument test methods and procedures

  • Experience with SolidWorks

  • Experience with LabView Scripting and Test Automation

  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance.
