Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Consulting Radiation and Survivability Engineer based out of Woodland Hills, CA.
What You'll get to Do:
This is a high level position for an electrical engineer experienced in survivability and radiation hardness design and design analysis. The selected candidate will have extensive knowledge of Survivability and Radiation Hardness design at device, CCA, and system level, along with solid knowledge of characterization testing for radiation hardness. Responsibilities will include:
Engaging across multiple programs to provide technical support on radiation hardness, review technical documentation and participate in internal and customer technical meetings.
Reviewing and analyzing customer requirements and developing compliant survivability and radiation hardness requirements.
Interfacing collaboratively with electrical design engineers and provide technical guidance for survivability and radiation hardness.
Working with system, mechanical, and component engineering groups within Northrop Grumman as well as with external customers and suppliers.
Developing technical solutions for compliance to survivability and radiation hardness requirements at system level.
Performing as nuclear survivability/radiation hardness Technical Lead for Woodland Hills programs.
Leading/supervising/supporting on-site and off-site radiation harness testing and analysis.
BS Engineering or Physics degree and at least 20 years' experience; or an MS Engineering or Physics degree and at least 18 years' experience; or PhD in Engineering or Physics and at least 15 years' experience
Deep understanding of survivability and radiation hardness design and analysis.
Deep understanding of survivability and radiation hardness testing at both system and sub-assembly levels
Skilled in use of commercially available software to model and analyze radiation at system, sub-assembly and device levels.
Direct experience with requirements analysis, flow down, tracking, verification, and writing specifications
Direct experience generating proposals for survivability and radiation hardness
Direct experience with preparing interface control documents, engineering reports, special engineering investigations, and technical white papers.
High level of expertise in the creation of radiation control plan, test plans, procedures, and reports, and technical guidelines.
Experienced in coordinating and collaborating with internal and external radiation hardness subject matter experts.
Experienced in providing senior technical support and oversight on radiation hardness to hardware engineering team, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing to effectively interact with customers, preparing white papers, briefings, trade studies, and proposal inputs.
Active DOD Secret Level clearance
Direct design experience in survivability for missile applications.
Direct design experience in radiation hardness for spacecraft applications.
Excellent ability to understand and apply customer requirements to develop hardened hardware design.
Ability to lead technical development and support internal program leadership and customers.
Familiarity with lab test equipment including oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, measurement equipment, signal generators, etc.
Experience with Cadence CAD tool and/or Mentor Graphics CAD tool.
Contributions to the general state of knowledge of nuclear survivability/radiation hardness through the publication of technical articles
