Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Job Responsibilities:

The Senior Principal Software Engineer position will be located at the Pentagon. The candidate will serve as the technical "face" of the Northrop Grumman program and work directly with the end customers, government customers, and partners to analyze and gather requirements. The candidate will serve as the lead developer to design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems, and will be responsible for defining scope, priority, and schedule to create, manage and execute project plans; stand up presentation and proof-of-concept systems; collaborating with external customers, external partners and internal team members throughout the software development life cycle. The candidate will lead the development team and provide technical guidance and solutions to a wide range of complex problems, contributing to the completion of specific programs and projects. The candidate will be a self-starter, team-player and will be expected to independently manage and complete their tasks in a fast-paced results driven environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimal 10 years related experience with a bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM degree.

  • Active interim Secret Clearance or Secret Clearance.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Technical Lead.

  • Past customer-facing experience and knowledge.

  • Experience working on Java technologies.

  • Experience working on Web Services.

  • Experience working on AWS technologies.

  • Experience working with PL/SQL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with IDE (Eclipse, etc.)

  • Experience with Application Servers, such as Tomcat, etc.

  • Knowledge of Data Science analytics tools/techniques (RStudio, Shiny, Python, etc).

  • Knowledge of cross domain data process.

  • Experience with web services (XML, REST, SOAP, API Gateway, etc.)

  • Experience with DevOps Toolsets (Git, JIRA, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.) and Agile development processes

  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux Operating Systems.

Salary Range: $129,700 - $194,500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
