Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Sr. Principal Subcontracts Specialist – Category Management to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position if remote, however is preferred to be within a commutable distance from one of the following AS locations Rancho Bernardo, CA; Palmdale, CA; Redondo Beach, CA; or Melbourne, FL
The Category Management Subcontracts Specialist ensures the category management organization aligns to the business’ overall goals by incorporating Division/Program goals, affordability targets, and schedules across the sector with category management activities. Responsibilities include integrating corporate efforts, category technical capabilities, and programs forecasts/opportunities to ensure the sector’s category management efforts are proactive and strategic.
In this role, the selected candidate will be expected to:
Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of services, specialized materials, and/or equipment in line with category assignments
Drive scope definition and implementation of strategies across multiple categories & programs
Prepares bid packages, conducts bidders conferences, analyzes and evaluates proposals, performs price/cost analyses, negotiate subcontract provisions, selects or recommends subcontractors, writes awards, and administers resulting subcontracts
Identifies strategies and opportunities to reduce cost, improve efficiency and manage risk through strategic and targeted negotiations
Negotiates and coordinates additions, deletions, or modifications to subcontracts
Apply standard Aerospace & Defense purchasing / procurement methodology to spend categories to achieve organizational objectives, best value for the enterprise, and achievement of target return on investments (ROI).
Support sector initiatives/ special projects as required
Establish vendor managed inventory (VMI), long-term agreements, strategic agreements, blanket agreements, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions
Monitor market dynamics and communicates changes that affect internal customer needs
Manage internal and external relationships and supplier partnerships
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with at least 9 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement OR a master’s degree with at least 7 years of experience in supply chain management, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement
13 years of Supply Chain, project management, sustainment, proposals, and/or procurement may be considered in lieu of a degree
Must have FAR/DFARS experience
Ability to multi-task and make sound decisions in a timely manner
Experience building teams and interfacing/ collaborating with Programs and other organizations within and outside of Global Supply Chain
At minimum, the ability to obtain an active DoD Secret level clearance to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree and 8+ years of supply chain, contracts, business management or related experience
Negotiating contracts in excess of $10 Million
Budgeting experience and EVM knowledge
Working knowledge sector categories, including a solid understanding of engineering/technical requirements
Ability to understand engineering practices and work within the technology arena to further the connection between the technology roadmaps and Global Supply Chain
Ability to plan schedule and arrange activities to accomplish objectives
Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to model and promote a strong sense of engagement, teamwork and cooperation
SAP experience
Commutable distance from one of the following AS locations Rancho Bernardo, CA; Palmdale, CA; Redondo Beach, CA; or Melbourne, FL
Exceptional written and verbal communication and organizational skills
Significant experience managing supply chain risk
Salary Range: $99,900 - $149,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
