Northrop Grumman Marine Systems in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a manufacturing engineer to oversee the test facility responsible for completing final acceptance testing of marine propulsion and power generation systems.
The Test Facility Engineer (TFE), as part of a test facility engineering team, will have primary responsibility for the design, commissioning, operation, maintenance and safety of the Test Facility including all electrical systems, steam boilers,
feedwater systems, cooling systems, lubricating oil, control, load absorbing, hydraulic, safety and backup systems necessary to support testing operations of propulsion and power generation marine machinery.
The TFE will ensure that all system integrity is maintained in compliance with all CA State and local codes, regulations and operational requirements, as well as specific site and program procedures and directives. The TFE will report directly to
the Process Area Technical Manager.
The TFE will manage repair and preventative maintenance activities and will coordinate on-site contractor activities. The TFE will contribute to developing and maintaining long range maintenance and capital plans. Working with the Supervisor of Testing Operations, the TFE will prepare, document and execute Operator training plans and operating procedures consistent with safe and proper operational requirements to include plant start-up and shut down. The TFE will maintain preventative maintenance procedures as well as all overhaul, repair and maintenance records for the facility.
The TFE must ensure all controls, devices, components or systems are properly calibrated, serviced, repaired and replaced and that all function properly in accordance with the OEM specifications and the codes and standards adopted
The TFE will develop and maintain program specific Pre and Post Test checklists. Collaboration with the Test Supervisor is essential in checklist development and use.
Bachelors or Masters Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math)
2 years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Exposure to propulsion and power plant machinery
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
Test and Facility Operational Experience
Steam plant/boiler, lubricating and hydraulic systems operational experience
Exposure to methodical system diagnostic techniques and processes
