The Test Facility Engineer (TFE), as part of a test facility engineering team, will have primary responsibility for the design, commissioning, operation, maintenance and safety of the Test Facility including all electrical systems, steam boilers, feedwater systems, cooling systems, lubricating oil, control, load absorbing, hydraulic, safety and backup systems necessary to support testing operations of propulsion and power generation marine machinery.

Working closely with designers and testers, you will use your knowledge of OSHA best practices, international buiding codes, and national electrical codes to ensure the facility is capable of supporting our mission critical needs. You will need to acquire a deep knowledge of test and performance requirements of machinery and then assess the capability of the facility to meet those needs. The Test Facility Electrical Engineer will also be responsible for developing schematics, suggesting improvements, and creating standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities may include the following:

  • Develop strategic maintenance plans

  • Design, propose and manage capital projects

  • Understand control systems to operate steam boilers, feedwater systems, cooling systems, lubricating oil, load absorbing, hydraulic, safety and backup systems

  • Serve as technical liaison between design and test teams

  • Maintain system integrity within state and local codes

  • Document and execute operator training plans and operating procedures

Basic Qualifications:

This position can be filled at a Level 3 or Level 4

Level 3 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 5+ years of relevant work experience; or a Masters Degree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of relevant work experience

  • 1+ years of operational facilities experience

  • Understanding of and exposure to power distribution systems

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Level4 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and 9+ years of relevant work experience; or a Masters Degree in a STEM discipline with 7+ years of relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of operational facilities experience

  • Understanding of and exposure to power distribution systems

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure tosteam plant operations
