Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector is looking for a Supplier Program Manager, Level 1 to support the Machinery Systems Operating Unit.

The individual selected for this position will have responsibility, accountability and authority for a substantial material effort within the program, and will be supporting the account for cost, schedule and performance of the critical suppliers.

The individual will support the Program Manager managing a cross functional team to enable management of the critical suppliers. This position requires strong interpersonal skills in order to lead, collaborate and work effectively with all levels of internal and external management and executive leadership, and will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong supplier executive relationships in order to drive supplier performance to meet program milestones.

The Supplier Program Manager is responsible for leading all phases of the supplier program life cycle from inception (RFQ) through startup, execution, and completion (hardware delivery). Primary responsibilities are the management of cost, schedule, and technical performance of the critical suppliers and include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivating supplier relationships and intimacy to develop further opportunities within the supplier community

  • Developing new business opportunities through long term strategic planning, and capture planning to grow the supply base

  • Creation, review and finalization of supplier's Statement of Work

  • Identifying and actively managing resource constraints for the critical suppliers

  • Supporting development of master plans and schedules with the suppliers and ensuring adherence to those schedules to meet program objectives

  • Drive cost reduction initiatives to meet material affordability and scalability targets

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7 years, or Master's and 5 years' experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries

  • Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager.

  • Development and adherence to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools.

  • The ability to identify, select, direct and manage subcontract and supply chain elements of the program in a manner that supports program goals and company strategy.

  • Outstanding PC skills (including MS Excel, Project, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience presenting program/technical status to internal and customer executives

  • Ability to sustain in demanding program execution environments

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; Advanced Degree in Engineering, Business Management and/or equivalent

  • Marine Propulsion Design, Manufacturing and Test Experience

  • Technical interface experience with technical customers and manufacturing suppliers
