Northrop Grumman Quality Analyst 3/4 in Sunnyvale, California

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Quality Analyst to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located at Sunnyvale, CA. The Quality Analyst will support the Quality & Mission Excellence organization within the Marine Systems business unit at the Sunnyvale California location; a key element of the Navigation & Maritime Systems Division (N&MSD). Marine Systems designs, builds, tests, and supports Power & Propulsion Systems and Launch Systems for the US Navy and allies of the US.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product

  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment

  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications

  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction

  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements

  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality

  • Assures product quality by devising and implementing methods and procedures

  • Plans and executes product verifications (e.g., inspections, peer reviews, verification tests)

  • Monitors identification and handling of quality risks and opportunities

  • Develops and maintains quality performance metrics and records

  • Develops and supports manufacturing routings

  • Creates holds and supports Corrective Action Board

  • Supports planning of controls and processes to anticipate and prevent quality problems

  • Evaluates products for compliance, supports MRB and non-conformance resolution

This position may be filled at a level 3 or a level 4.

Basic Qualifications for level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience as an NDT Level III, or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience with significant exposure to complex part geometry welding inspection, machining processes, management purposes; ability to read mechanical drawings.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

  • VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT Level III Certification required (Min 3).

  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards

  • Experience Reviewing, analyzing and reporting on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems

  • Experience with mechanical products manufacturing processes

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience as an NDT Level III, or 14+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • 5 years of manufacturing experience with significant exposure to complex part geometry welding inspection, machining processes, management purposes; ability to read mechanical drawings.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

  • VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT Level III Certification required (Min 3).

  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards

  • Experience Reviewing, analyzing and reporting on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems

  • Experience with mechanical products manufacturing processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

  • Geometric dimensioning and toleranceing

  • Experience interpreting product and military specifications (particularly MIL-271/278).

  • Six Sigma or Lean certifications

  • Experience with SAP

  • Experience with statistical process control

  • Experience with measurement analysis methods

  • Experience with Non-destructive test techniques (NDT)

  • Possess current DOD Secret clearance
