Northrop Grumman Program Director - After Market Programs in Sunnyvale, California

Working in Northrop Grumman Mission Systems means making a direct contribution to mission projects that keep our homeland safe, expanding the boundaries of possibility and reshaping the world in which we live.

The Program Director for After Market Programs will have profit and loss responsibility for their portfolio of contracts and management responsibility for a field support team. The fleet support organization provides field service for for fielded U.S. Navy equipment. Additional program responsibilities related to strategically significant programs to our corporation will be included in this portfolio and require demonstrated excellence in program performance.

The Program Director is also responsible for managing the independent commercial rate structure utilized by the fleet support organization.

The Program Director will be required to provide mature leadership over very dynamic and customer critical field service activities, requiring direct customer engagement at all levels of the shipyard and US Navy leadership teams.

The successful candidate will: participate in the negotiation of contract and contract changes; coordinate the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contracts; act as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customers to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance; establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test; develop new business/expand the product line with customers; establish

milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identifying program problems and obtaining solutions such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications; and direct the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas.

The successful candidate is expected to serve as the casualty response leader for the Northrop Grumman Maritime/Land Systems & Sensors Division. The expectation is that this position will coordinate contractual responsibility for urgent division level responses through their organization while synchronizing the response of multiple locations throughout the division as necessary.

Position geographic location preference is close proximity to the US Navy customer and field service activity (Norfolk, VA area). The After Market Program Director will provide mature leadership over very dynamic and customer critical field service activities, requiring direct customer engagement at all levels of the US Navy.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree and 10+ years of program management experience in naval,avionics, space or missile defense programs.

  • Attention to detail, a history of driving program performance excellence, strong leadership skills, and excellent communication skills

  • Active Secret clearance

  • Proven development/production program execution experience with proficiency in P&L management and EVMS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Science, Technology, Engineer or Math and/or MBA

  • Proven experience in strategy execution to successfully capture and grow business

  • Ability to develop strategy from business development through full rate production

  • Familiarity in launch systems and propulsion and power generation for Naval domain
