We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA. As a Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

What you'll get to do:

  • Manage subsystem requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s).

  • Contribute to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents.

  • Assist with the development of subsystem requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.

  • Coordinate the resolution of action items from team meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination.

  • Allocate performance budgets to subsystem assemblies and components.

  • Generate alternative subsystem concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.

  • Define the methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems and work products are verified against their requirements in a written plan.

We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on the qualifications listed below:

Basic Qualifications for Principal:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years relevant experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 3 years of relevant work experience.

  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience with Systems Engineering practices in performing system design, integration, verification, validation, and delivery.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 9 years relevant experience; or Master's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 7 years of relevant work experience.

  • US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience with Systems Engineering practices in performing system design, integration, verification, validation, and delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience in development of System Requirements and Allocation to subsystems.

  • Familiarity with DOORS and JIRA

  • Experience applying SysML to Systems Engineering efforts and working with modern SysML tools (i.e., Rhapsody, Cameo).

  • Experience with program and design review process (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, etc.).

  • Experience in development and execution of System Test Procedures

  • Familiarity with Change Request (CR), Requirement, Verification, and Review life cycles (JWP, WPE, etc.)

  • Strong oral written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900

Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
