Northrop Grumman Marine Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to focus on coordination of the Foreign Object Elimination (FOE)program and related training efforts. This individual designs FOE processes, procedures and production FOE Maps for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling, consistent with Campus Foreign Object Elimination Procedure A156_M389.01.

The Campus FOE Coordinator interprets and directs implementation of the Foreign Object Elimination Program. The Campus FOE Coordinator Designs the arrangement of clean areas/ FOE facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Working with IE's and fellow ME's designs sequences of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect Foreign Object Elimination (FOE) processes. Adapts Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) designs and Foreign Object Elimination (FOE) processes to machines and/or equipment.

May direct inspection requirements incorporated into production plans. Directs inspection for FOE performance on machinery, equipment and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with procedures and overall manufacturing needs to improve quality and increase performance reliability.

Working with the Training Department, the FOE Coordinator will document and execute training plans consistent with Campus Procedures and Management Direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Campus FOE Procedures

  • Manage FOE Procedure updates, improvement and revision

  • Direct FOE Continuous Improvement Activities as approved by Management

  • Manage FOE Campus Training Developing and Administering

  • Factory Operator, MA, Engineering, Visitor, Customer, Supplier, Contractor, Government, etc.

  • Develop and Analyze Campus FOE Performance

  • Create and Report FOE Performance Metrics

  • Develop and Execute Campus FOE Awareness Campaigns

  • Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering to identify need for and Design FME Devices

  • Develop, Submit, Execute CI and MTA Initiatives

  • Conduct FOE RCCA Investigations and Tracks Corrective Action Activities

  • Develop and create FOE Reports for both Internal and External Customers, as required

  • Bench Marks with Industry and NGC FOE Programs

  • Develop FOE process improvements and implementation

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math) with 5+ years of relevant work experience, or MastersDegree in a STEM discipline with 3+ years of relevant work experience

  • Prior experience with Foreign Object Elimination programs

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Secret clearance

  • Six-Sigma Lean certification

  • Previous project management experience

  • Microsoft Project
