Start your future with a new mission, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, located in Sunnyvale , CA has an immediate need for a Principal Engineer Facilities/Sr Principal Engineer Facilities.
This position can be filled at either a level 3 (Principal Engineer Facilities) or level 4 (Sr Principal Engineer Facilities).
In this role you will lead the execution and management of facilities projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and new program facilitation requirements, in detail:
Ensure all preventative and corrective works on plant utilities and equipment are planned and executed.
Oversee the maintenance, operation, repairs, and planning of facilities mechanical infrastructure such as Compressed Air, HVAC, Piping, Plumbing and other facility systems to ensure maximum safety and uptime.
Engage as a technical expert with a diverse set of teams from engineering, manufacturing, construction, operations, and executive level stakeholders.
Identify, create, and implement preventative and predictive maintenance plans to achieve lowest cost of ownership while maintaining reliability.
Evaluate existing and new technologies such as system and building automation to reduce operating costs and improve reliability.
Gather, review, and finalize requirements data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company, or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility.
Plan, design and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities.
Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards.
Develop strategic replacement plans for outdated equipment to address excessive maintenance, energy efficiency and establish consistency of equipment utilized across the site.
Review and estimate design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, other related costs, and challenge assumptions.
Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs) and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services.
Prepare training documents and operational SOPs pertaining to facility and utility processes and equipment.
Partner with Facility Maintenance groups to perform problem solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis and develop process improvements to gain efficiencies in terms of equipment uptime and reliability.
Experience Requirements:
Interact will all levels of the organization and external representatives.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Interpret building and utility drawings and make the revisions as required.
Develop short- and long-term corrective actions for existing and/or repeating issues
Construction project management skills including monitoring project progress, tracking project costs and meeting project milestones along with final checkout and turnover to operational program.
Working knowledge of HVAC maintenance
Have applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project) and AutoCAD capabilities.
Able to work in a multi-tasking environment.
Detail oriented and Able to work independently with little or no supervision and as part of team.
Strong skills with ACAD, MS Word, Excel, Access and Project
Knowledgeable of construction processes, start-up, testing, commissioning and acceptance of systems and buildings operations
Basic Qualifications: Based on qualifications, this requisition can be filled at either level.
Level 3: 5 years' experience with Facilities and Bachelor's degree in engineering, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering degree; or 3 years' experience with MS Degree; or 0 years of experience with PhD
Level 4: 9 years' experience with Facilities and Bachelor's degree in engineering, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering degree; or 7 years' experience with MS Degree; or 4 years of experience with PhD
Must be a US citizen.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications for Level 3/4:
Successful completion (i.e., passing) FE or EIT
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
Knowledge of current California Building, Mechanical and Plumbing codes and Title 24 requirements
Experience supporting a large Manufacturing Facility
Demonstrated knowledge of California Code and Regulatory requirements
Experience using a CMMS, i.e., Maintenance Connection
Experience using BIM Software - Revit
Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400
Salary Range 2: $117,700 - $176,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
