Northrop Grumman Marine Systems, a historical campus in Sunnyvale, CA, specializes in the development, manufacturing, assembly and testing of missile launching and handling systems, propulsion and power generation systems for naval surface ships and submarines. Our products are built nowhere else in the country.
We are seeking Manufacturing Engineers to join our team. You will support the manufacturing and testing of marine propulsion and power generation systems working on various manufacturing processes for high-value gearing and steam turbine assemblies, machined components and welded fabrications.
Responsibilities include the following:
Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists, welders and engineers.
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimized production area layouts, manage bills of materials, create detailed work instructions, process procedures and tooling requirements with emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination and equipment/system maintenance.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production processes.
Select roles will also support final acceptance testing of product and provide technical support to test facility operation as necessary.
The ability to support multiple production shifts is required (first, second, third shifts, and weekends) based on the assignment and current and future production schedules. Positions are available within the following Manufacturing Engineering departments:
Welding and Fabrication
For a Manufacturing Engineer:
Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering or Math) with 2+ years of relevant work experience, or Masters Degree in a STEM discipline with0+ years of relevant work experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance
Exposure to propulsion and power plant machinery
Exposure or specialization in any or all of the following: welding, machining and/or mechanical assembly processes
Product testing and facility operational experience
Steam plant/boiler, lubricating and hydraulic systems operational experience
Experience leading technical projects requiring project planning, scheduling, resource identification and financial management.
