We are looking for you to join our team as a Test Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs mechanical and metallurgical tests in accordance with internal and external specifications for products and processes.

  • Preparation of test samples by sectioning, mounting, grinding, polishing of specimens

  • Hardness testing: Rockwell, Vickers, or Brinell

  • Macro and micro photography

  • Basic metallurgical testing; coating thickness, case depth, etc.

  • Use of mechanical load frames to perform tensile, compression and shear testing

  • Analyze, record and report results

  • Set up, operate and clean laboratory equipment

  • Assist Operations and Engineering on various non-standard test/inspections as required

  • Test preparations for bonded assemblies

  • Chemical lab testing: chemistry, viscosity, water content, etc.

  • Assist engineering in verification of properties relating to quality notifications

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES

Duties require judgment to work independently toward general results. Must be able to effectively communicate and work with a variety of departments and personnel that are supported.

Remote work not available.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA

Works with confidential data of major importance which, if disclosed, may be detrimental to the company and U.S. interest. Must be able to obtain SECRET level security clearance granted through DOD.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • All basic qualifications for a Level 1 engineer.

  • Experience with metallurgical specimen preparation, etching, and analysis

  • Minimum 1-2 years experience operating machine shop tools such as a band saw, horizontal lathe, and abrasive saw

  • Experience with bonding of various adhesives, preferred

  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical testing of molded rubber assemblies, preferred
