Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a Principal Military Trainer - Scenario and Operational Environment Planner to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Suffolk, Virginia . As a key member of the Joint Staff Support Team (JST) the selected candidate will conduct exercise Scenario planning and prepare Scenario and Master Scenario Events List (MSEL) products for Joint Staff J7 supported military training exercises and events. The Military Exercise Planner will perform their duties throughout the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) in coordination with supported military customers and JST leads.
Responsibilities:
Designs and plans exercise scenarios in a collaborative effort with training audience representatives, Desk Officers, and event planners
Delivers scenario products such as historical overviews, Road-to-Crisis (RTC), Operational Environment (OE) Overview, and other scenario products as each exercise evolves incrementally over the JELC
Coordinates and adjusts suspense dates based on the need and ability to develop products
Provides instruction in Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL) operations to members of the Exercise Control Group
Attends exercise planning conferences and attend In-Progress Reviews and coordination meetings as required
Basic Qualifications:
One of the following:
High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with the a bility to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Must have or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
Must be able to travel CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25% of the time)
Must be able to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in the joint or service planning process
Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance
Working knowledge of JTIMS JMSEL and Legacy JMSEL
Joint Staff J7 Exercise/Event Experience
Salary Range: $71,400 - $107,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
