Northrop Grumman is seeking a qualified and experienced Middleware Systems Engineer to provide Infrastructure support. This position will include working within an agile development team to help implement and maintain smooth operation of systems. All work will be performed on site at CBP offices in Northern Virginia. Some local travel to various CBP sites may be required.

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's team to support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD) suite of computer and automated software applications. CBP PSPD supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the CBP mission of securing our borders while facilitating legitimate trade and travel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrated experience in DevOps tools such as AWS Cloudformation, Kubernetes, Docker, Tomcat, Openshit, etc

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability and interest in learning new technologies and methods

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Deep knowledge with data center scale software infrastructure such as VMware

  • This position includes helping support our development team to create, manage and deploy a state-of-the-art service, new capability or enhancement

  • This position includes ensuring the resiliency of the underlying infrastructure which supports the Customer's mission applications

  • Strong Oral communication skills in an eclectic environment composed of Government PMO and NGC Leadership

  • Ability to provide infrastructure expertise to the enterprise across business and missioned based applications

  • Work collaboratively on architectural efforts of the highest significance that involve technical, business, and organizational complexity.

  • Perform continual assessment of the COTS baseline of the PSPD enterprise to ensure that that mission applications are hosted on vendor compliant software

  • Support weekly meetings and PMR as directed by the PSPD leadership team

  • Exhibit the judgement to assess the customer's strategic needs and identify and propose appropriate options for fulfilling those needs as part of organic growth

  • Provide technical expertise to the architectural teams within the areas of enterprise monitoring and cloud based services

  • Continue to investigate technical approaches for ensuring the redundancy of the infrastructure and mission applications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS with 9 years, Masters with 7 years, PhD with 4 years' experience

  • 5+ years of experience working on Weblogic

  • 5+ years of experience with Apache webserver, Tomcat

  • Experience working on Openshift and containerization tools and technology is highly desired

  • 5+ years of experience on Linux

  • Experience reading, writing and executing moderate SQL queries

  • Experience in overall Production/Infrastructure (weblogic, Tomcat) support

  • Experience with Atlassian tools such as - JIRA, Confluence

  • Some Java development experience desirable

  • Very good written documentation and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to obtain DHS CBP Clearance - US Citizenship Required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of monitoring tools such as AppDynamics or OEM are strongly desired

  • Working knowledge of Cloud computing highly desired

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD tools highly desired
