The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Kinematic Missile Model Verification and Validation (V&V) Lead Engineer based out of Schriever AFB, in Colorado Springs, CO.
The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for development of high fidelity, intel-credible models and simulations used to stimulate element models of the Ballistic Missile Defense System, including kinematic missile modeling, IR signature modeling, data production/analysis activities, and maintenance/ sustainment activities for the entire TMC software baseline. The TMC Engineering Team is responsible for the design, development, integration, test, and deployment of multiple software suites to both internal and external users of the software to accomplish the M&S mission of the TMC by employing Agile SW Development methodologies. The TMC is a cornerstone element to the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) Engineering Directorate (DE) Task Order.
What You'll Get to Do:
The Kinematic Missile Model V&V Lead Engineer role serves as an internal verifier and validator of kinematic models developed by the TMC prior to their use within MDA. This position requires a detail-oriented engineer responsible for verifying the quality of high fidelity ballistic missile and advanced threat models for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/framework/media. As a small team lead of two other model V&V engineers, provide team task management, mentoring, and lead process and tool refinement.
Must have a good understanding of modeling and simulation methods and processes. Must be able to research, interpret and verify parameters required to build, replicate and propagate missile or space launch trajectories to include staging, debris, counter measures and RV / payload traits. Must be able to apply standard engineering and mathematical algorithms to ensure the accurate portrayal of expected missile or space launch behavioral characteristics during all phases of powered and un-powered flight. The selected individual must be able to work with little or no direct supervision, work as an integral member of a threat product delivery team, and meet time critical delivery schedules.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
5 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline; or 3 Years with a Masters (at least one degree must be in a STEM discipline).
Active Final DoD Secret clearance
Programming background to include languages such as MATLAB and Python
Knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, and performance of a ballistic missile
Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment
Modeling, simulation, and automation experience
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Prior technical leadership experience
Strong math, physics or engineering background
Previous experience with modeling flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and missile performance parameters of ballistic missiles
Strong background in missile system engineering performance
Mastery of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory generation, counter measures, and debris
Current DoD Top Secret Clearance
