The Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST) Software organization is looking for you to join our team on the Specialized Warfighter and Development Contract (SWDC) based out of Schriever AFB, CO.

MDST provides a digital representation of the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellite systems and associated ground stations. MDST supports several Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Stakeholder Applications to include Assessment, Training, Exercises, and Developmental Engineering activities.

What You'll get to Do:

As a System Administrator (Red Hat Linux Servers and clients) you will perform system administration duties on the MDST Software Development Network, MDST Software client machines, MDST Operations networks, and MDST Operations client machines. Responsibilities include installing and testing required software updates/patches for Linux systems to include GOTS (Government off the Shelf), COTS (Customer off the Shelf), and other application software. Research, maintain, test, implement, and verify cybersecurity updates and patches. Installation, configuration, maintenance, and backup/restore of the MDST software to include imaging workstations within the DISA and SHB imaging standards for secure and unsecure environments. Perform server maintenance and break/fix activities and provide desktop support for users as required. Assist in management of COTS, GOTS, software licenses, and other developed software applications. Receive and install MDST software releases, COTS/GOTS software products, and COTS/GOTS software patches using standard procedures. Research new technologies, evaluate products, write processes/documentation and perform training as needed. Other duties assigned as required.

The successful candidate will have the ability to quickly adapt to new situations, has a strong commitment to a team environment, a willingness to learn new technologies, the ability to de-conflict requests/requirements and to establish, maintain and follow documented processes and procedures.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in Information Technology, or 8 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • At least 2 years relevant work experience as a System Administrator working with Linux/Unix Operating Systems

  • Active Secret Clearance, with ability to obtain DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

  • Must have Security+ with Continuing Education (CE) or equivalent IAT Level II certification under DoD 8570.01-M

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the DISA Vulnerability Management System

  • Familiarity with Redhat Satellite Server

  • Familiarity with ArcSight

  • Experience working with vendors to expedite installations and repairs to ensure maximum uptime
