Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems - Systems Integration Engineer (23-483) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the integrating element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives.

C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is an integral part of all system ground and flight tests which verify and exercise all current and future BMDS capabilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for integrating the C2BMC system into the MDIOC C2BMC Testbed and the Operational systems. The Integration activity ensures the install matches the Configuration Managed baseline and verifies settings and operations.

  • The Test activity is to exercise high-level functions and capabilities to ensure no change from the test environment.

  • Servers and workstations are both Linux and Windows-based, using virtual servers.

  • Integration includes troubleshooting the installed software to identify whether the system is incorrectly installed or settings are incorrect. Troubleshooting includes activities that most System Administrators should know of to identify and resolve the most common issues.

  • Coordinated subsystem and system testing activities with programs and other organizations.

  • Performs test results analysis and prepares comprehensive subsystem and system-level evaluation reports, which verify and validate system performance.

  • Writes discrepancy reports and performs integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems, and systems.

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • An active Secret clearance is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance.

  • 5 years with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 3 years with a Master's degree.

  • Self-starter with good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Cooperatively develop integration plans/procedures from sources such as functional/performance requirements and stated technical capabilities

  • Monitor the integration of the test resources, execute these detailed integration procedures, analyze integration results, and present the results orally and in written format.

  • Candidate should have experience in troubleshooting small to large-scale infrastructure.

  • Plan, implements, tested, documented, and maintain solutions for integrating and testing in-house developed COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems, and systems. Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Establishes functional and technical specifications and standards, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem.

  • Reviews evaluates, and derives requirements for testability.

  • Develops and directs the preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for complete systems and subsystems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current and Active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.

  • Possesses a DoD 8570 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is highly desired or must be obtained within 60 days of the start date.

  • Knowledge of or practical experience with industry or DoD test methodologies and terminology.

  • Experience with operational systems (e.g., Aegis, Patriot), development systems (e.g., GMD, THAAD, Aegis), and off-the-shelf statistical analysis packages a plus.

  • Network architecture, device knowledge, and scripting skills for data mining and formatted data display are a plus.

  • Experience within the Mission Defense realm and previous test and integration experience is also useful.

  • C2BMC is deployed internationally; some travel may be required, but most efforts are from a central location with remote access.

Salary Range: $95,100 - $142,700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
