There is currently an opening for an Engineering Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position falls under one of Northrop Grumman's Small Business Units, Sonoma Photonics, Inc. and will be located in Santa Rosa, CA .

Roles and Responsibilities: Perform optical coating tolerance, analysis and process engineering of optics for projects related to optical technologies. Apply new techniques and coatings to meet product needs. Individually contribute to product development or program completion. Duties & tasks are varied but standardized. The successful candidate can expect to receive technical guidance from engineers, senior engineers, program managers, and supervisory review on proposed plans.

Work will be conducted in both an office and lab/mfg environment with various temperatures and possible exposure to chemicals. US Citizenship required in support of security clearance requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • AA or other 2-year technical degree in related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of related experience or additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of education.

  • Familiarity with thin film optical materials and thin film characterization techniques.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Experience with statistical methods and analysis.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Candidate must be able to work a flexible shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with optical thin films; thin film modeling software (TFCalc, Optilayer, etc.)

Salary Range: $51,800 - $86,400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
