Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Radar Engineer 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.The selected candidate will support a classified System Development and Demonstration (SDD) program within NGAS. As part of your assignment, you will work as part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), working across internal and external organizations involving system development, integration and test.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and execute radar flight test activities and disposition anomalies.

  • Evaluate flight test performance and prepare test reports.

  • Prepare Flight Test Requests for Edwards AFB test events.

  • Prepare documents for Government authorization allowing Northrop Grumman to modify military test aircraft for specific flight testing of hardware and software.

  • Verify performance meets requirements specified by customer.

  • Provide subcontract oversight and monitoring both remotely and on-site at their facility.

  • Provide monitoring of integration and test activities at subcontractor Radar System Integration Lab.

  • Prepare and execute ground test procedures and flight test cards for scheduled test events.

  • Lead activity to maintain and monitor upgrades to the Sensor Control Element radar flight test shelter located at Edwards AFB.

  • Review and track subcontractor documents for delivery to customer.

  • Perform post flight test data reduction and disseminate flight test products to subcontractors for development, integration, analysis, and verification.

  • When necessary, engage in maintenance and repair activities for existing developmental radars and their special test equipment.

  • Participate in periodic meetings with customer, subcontractors, and partners spanning multiple disciplines such as test, systems, software, hardware, air vehicle, quality, data management, and product support.

  • Travel 25% of the time, up to a continuous week

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field.

  • Must have at least 9 years of Engineering experience or 7 years of Engineering with a Master's Degree

  • Must have radar systems or flight/lab testing experience.

  • Must have experience with programming in one or more of the following language: C, C , MATLAB or Python.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) level access/clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a STEM related field.

  • A self-starter with the ability to engage and follow tasking through to completion.

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under limited direction within the scope of an assignment and use independent judgment in determining methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria.

  • Ability to travel to customer and subcontract locations and participate in integration and flight test.
