Production Test Technician 1- Space Components San Diego, CA

Our San Diego, CA location is seeking a Static Load Test Technician 1 to support mechanical setup and static load testing. This is a 1st shift position (5:00 am to 2:30 pm).

The successful candidate will work with our experienced static load test team and learn to perform precision mechanical test set ups with hydraulics and instrumentation, followed by the execution of static load testing of space flight hardware.

Job Summary

Sets up test apparatus and conducts tests of production assemblies and units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences. Lays out and assembles units for production equipment according to designs and specifications. Adjusts and calibrates systems as needed. Modifies equipment by adding, removing, or altering components as defined by predetermined diagrams and sketches. Corrects malfunctions by making adjustments or replacing parts or components as directed. Uses hand and small power tools, and various measuring and testing devices in performing job duties. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma, or equivalent

  • Demonstrated mechanical ability

  • Able to read, write and work to written instructions, blueprints, or shop drawings in English

  • Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic

  • Standard computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office: Word and Excel

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to be on feet for up to 8+ hours each day

  • Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and weekends as needed based on demanding manufacturing schedules

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 0 - 2 years' experience in mechanical testing or aerospace composite manufacturing

  • Ability to work at heights exceeding 20 feet and/or in confined spaces performing mechanical assembly / disassembly

  • High mechanical and electrical aptitude to learn the build-up of test setups with instrumentation

  • Practical mechanical experience, including use of mechanical tools, torque wrenches, drilling, tapping, and metal cutting and finishing

  • Ability or experience with crane and forklift rigging and safety for heavy lift and placement

  • Experience in composite manufacturing, assembly, and handling of flight hardware

  • Prior experience with mechanical testing and/or instrumentation

  • Prior experience with heavy equipment operation

  • Prior experience with hydraulics

Salary Range: $39,900 - $66,500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
