Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal System Test Engineer/Sr. Principal System Test Engineer within the Test and Evaluation Organization. This position will be located in San Diego, CA.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for development and execution of software test cases to verify subsystem functional requirements.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and able to learn challenging concepts quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Developing robust nominal & off-nominal software test cases centered on improving the user experience.

Work independently to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once.

The candidate will also be expected to actively seek opportunities for process improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

For Principal System Test Engineer consideration (T03):

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 5 years of engineering related experience, or a Master's in STEM and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience.

For Sr. Principal System Test Engineer consideration (T04):

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) and 9 years of engineering related experience, or a Master's in STEM and 7 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM and 4 years of related experience.

Basic Qualifications for both T03 and T04:

An active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance,

Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Experience writing Python scripts

Experience working System Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering

Experience with Windows/Linux operating systems and/ or Virtual Machines (VMs)

Understanding of the software development lifecycle and agile development methodology

Must be able to support 4/10, 9/80 or 2nd shift

Preferred Qualifications:

Security+ certification

Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and ClearQuest)

Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)

Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks

Experience with Java, C++, or Python

Salary Range: $95,000 - $142,400

Salary Range 2: $117,700 - $176,500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
