Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Functional Homeroom Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will fill a need in the Autonomous Design Center of Excellence Software Directorate and is located in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego).
You will lead the functional management of approximately 12 software engineering personnel assigned to Special Programs. Your responsibilities will include: conducting performance assessments, staffing, employee development, communication meetings, disciplinary actions, compensation adjustments, training & educational oversight/approval and other routine personnel issues. You will also establish common processes and practices in cooperation with colleague managers across the sector.
You will work closely with program-assigned systems engineering, software development, and management professionals to ensure the software lifecycle is accomplished with high quality and efficiency. Do you anticipate challenges and have keen organization skills? In this role, you'll track both the quality and timeliness of the organization's products, and identification and remediation of potential issues before they become problems. You will have a current and continuing full-time program assignment on Special Programs; this position is allocated for 15% of your time, which fluctuates during the year due to business needs and the performance management cycle.
Do you demonstrate exemplary integrity, excellent 2-way interpersonal skills (upward and downward), and maintain composure in stressful situations? You'll utilize those skills here. Additionally, you should possess a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle, be knowledgeable in the standard Sector software engineering processes, demonstrate strong team-building/collaboration skills, and will have experienced multiple iterations of the complete lifecycle as a practitioner. You will execute successfully by using your ability to build diverse/inclusive teams with engaged team members, and perfecting your time management to prioritize across concurrent program and functional responsibilities.
- Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university.
-At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
Active in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance.
Ability to obtain Special Program access.
Complementary assignment on Special Programs satisfied through current assignment or through selection to fill open program need.
Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
Advanced Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university.
Previous experience leading a team of 5-12 employees with a record of on-time performance.
Currently accessed to Special Programs.
