Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in San Diego, CA has an immediate opening for a Lead Aerodynamics Engineer 5 to work on an exciting VTOL aircraft development program.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical leadership of aeromechanics analysis and test team on a challenging VTOL aircraft development program.

  • Work is on-site at Rancho Bernardo, CA with intermittent flight test support at other sites in California and Arizona

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Aerodynamic Analysis of aircraft

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a team of engineers

  • Experience interfacing with senior level management, external suppliers, and senior customer representatives

  • Familiarity with military acquisition and Earned Value Management

  • 15 years of experience

  • Stong working knowledge of rotary-wing aerodynamics, stability and control and dynamics principles

  • Strong working knowledge of fixed-wing/ VTOLaerodynamics and stability and control principles

  • VTOL aero/propulsion model database development and implementation

  • Powered wind tunnel test planning, execution and data analyses

  • Flight test planning, execution and data analyses

  • Ability to develop and apply new analysis techniques and tools as needed to solve unusually challenging aeromechanics problems
