Northrop Grumman Hardware Quality Engineer 3 in San Diego, California
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Hardware Quality Engineer 3 to join the Mission Assurance team located in San Diego, California.
This opportunity allows hands on hardware experience with the integration, testing and operations of communication systems installed in customer platforms. This position will be located in San Diego, California Spectrum Center campus, and will report into the Mission Assurance functional organization primarily supporting the BACN programs. This position will be working closely with program engineers as well as our customers. Job tasks range from review and approval engineering designs, payload testing, aircraft integration, operation and maintenance.
Roles and Responsibilities: Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, Logistics and operation functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance assessments and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. May specialize in the areas of design, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies. Periodic travel throughout the United States and outside of the Continental United States is expected.
Bachelor of Science in STEM discipline and 6+ years of relevant experience.
Maintenance and operation of communication systems installed in military platforms.
Experience in product lifecycle quality management to include: Contract Requirements Compliance, Design, Production, systems testing and presentation to customers for inspection and acceptance.
Experience in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Power Point, Excel, and Project). Must have the skill necessary to build process documents, quality metrics and charts for presentation to management.
Current DoD Secret Clearance.
Knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI 14.0
Experience performing hardware design reviews.
Experience in international Logistics operations.
Experience with verification and validation testing of aviation electronics, radios, processors, and computers.
Have an operational knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100, Internal Auditing, Corrective/Preventive Action Systems, and Risk management practices.
Commercial/Military aviation maintenance experience.
ASQ certified Quality Engineer.
Current Airframe & Powerplant Certification (A&P)
Current FAA Inspection Authorization certification
Experience with Air Force IMDS Red X
