Northrop Grumman Space Systems - GBSD has an opening for a Lead Unit Electrical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The individual in this role will serve as the Responsible Design Engineer (RDE) for the Guidance Computer (GC) flight unit. The GC is a high reliability, radiation hardened flight controller for the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle (AVE). The GBSD Guidance Computer contains digital processing, digital I/O, and analog actuator/power I/O electronics functions. The selected individual will be responsible for all aspects of the unit electrical design. The scope spans requirements derivation, design, development, analysis, verification, and production of hardware, plus laboratory and test lab support. The engineer will work with a subcontractor providing processing hardware and will lead a team of electrical designers performing detailed board, ASIC, and test set designs. This position reports directly to the Guidance Computer Electrical Design Lead.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Bachelor's of Science in a STEM discipline with minimum 13 years' experience, or Master's of Science in a STEM discipline with 11 years of experience; or 8 years of experience with a PhD
Active Secret Security clearance with an investigation date within 6 years
Experience leading a multidisciplinary electronic design team, working cooperatively with professionals representing multiple engineering and non-engineering disciplines, working with subcontractors, and preparing for and participating in design reviews
Experience designing electronics hardware for Radiation Hardened Space and Missile applications, including designing and testing to compliance standards such as SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-461
Experience identifying unit level requirements and associated derivation/flow down of requirements to internal unit subassemblies; designing, implementing and verifying unit level electronic hardware; developing and/or performing verification and/or test plans and procedures; and working with and transitioning hardware designs in to the manufacturing and/or production environment
Experience managing a subcontractor
Experience participating in or leading a subcontract management team
Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
Experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
Earned Value and/or Cost Account Management (CAM) experience
Lead roles- Agile experience or certification
Non-Lead roles- Agile experience or certification
