Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Sr Principal Mechanical Engineer . This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT, Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL .
What You'll Get To Do:
This position will support the Weapon System Design and Analysis Configuration/Integration team that focuses on the creation of Assembly/Installation Product Definition Packages (PDP) utilizing Siemens NX and Siemens Capital & Xpedition and going through the product lifecycle management tool (Siemens Teamcenter). Additionally, it includes the investigation/resolution of the CAD (Computer Aided Design) issues that are a result of large top-level assemblies. Primary responsibilities include managing the weapon system configurations & effectivities and delivering the Engineering Bill of Material (eBOM) in structure manager using Siemens Teamcenter. You will apply knowledge of design, modeling and drawing practices to accomplish these objectives.
The selected candidate will support the Sentinel Program. Responsibilities include:
Provide technical experience and oversight as related to the implementation and dissemination of engineering processes to support Design Engineering
Creating Engineering Directives for Model Based Design & Analysis Activities
Support our Tier I suppliers with design authority and our IWO partners.
Support daily scrum meetings and provide status on assigned activities and meeting deadlines
Understand USAF processes, procedures, and requirements; develop mechanical integration approaches based on industry standards
Manage development to meet program milestones, including managing risk and opportunities
Provide technical direction and oversight of industry standards to less experienced engineers
Support meetings and serve as POC for Process and Governance Team as needed

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 9 years' experience; 7 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 4 years' experience with a PhD.
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment
Experience in using and understanding engineering industry standards, Mil-Specs
Experience with mechanical and design engineering principles
Experience using NX for 3D modeling
Experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience using Teamcenter
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Current and active DoD security clearance
Experience with Agile
Experience with CPLM
Experience with engineering DoD and defense related contracts
Familiarity with GD&T, and ability to understand technical drawings and schematics
Demonstrated record of collaboration among multiple subsystem teams
Ability to work with limited oversight, and be a self-starter
Strong communication and formal presentation skills
Salary Range: $101,600 - $160,400
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
