Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Guidance Nav. and Control Engineer to join the Flight Systems Team (FST) . This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. A competitive relocation package may be offered. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience level.
What You'll Get To Do:
The engineer in this role will continue to mature the Guidance System's ground and flight software algorithm design. Specific Guidance Navigation & Control (GN&C) modeling and simulation tasks for this role will include:
Develop and analyze GNC algorithms (guidance, navigation, autopilot)
Develop, verify, and validate complex 6 degree of freedom vehicle models
Model missile components such has inertial measurement unit (IMU) and thrust vector control (TVC) systems
Demonstrate proficiency in C++ and MATLAB and Object-Oriented design
Perform pre- and post-flight assessment and verification analyses

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master's Degree; 0 years with PhD
Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years with PhD
Demonstrated experience in the area of guidance, navigation, or control algorithm development and/or analysis for launch vehicles, missiles, spacecraft, and/or aircraft
Experience coding in a higher-level programming language (C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.)
Ability to work in a highly collaborative & dynamic team-based environment
Must have US Citizenship with an Active DoD Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated within last 6 years
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Masters or equivalent advanced degree in applicable technical discipline
Knowledge of estimation and control theory, such as Kalman filtering
Experience with a software version control system, such as Git
Extensive experience with MATLAB/Simulink
Extensive knowledge of C++ Experience with Object-Oriented Programming
Experience working in an agile environment or even leading a scrum team
Proficiency in technical writing and documentation
Experience with linear stability analysis to determine control system stability margins
Experience modeling navigation sensors, such as IMU or GPS

Salary Range: $90,400 - $135,600
Salary Range 2: $112,000 - $168,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
