Northrop Grumman Space Systems currently has an opening for a Principal Systems Engineer/ Sr. Principal Engineer. This position will be located in either Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here . Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Interface Requirement Specification. IRS consist of interface requirements artifacts (DOORs) captured within Command and Launch facilities and equipment.
Create and implement interface requirements artifacts.
Work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) Point of Contacts (POCs) to create, review and support other interface artifacts (ICMs, IDDs, ICDs)
Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed IRSs.
Deliver required IRSs on time to meet program objectives.
Integrate Interface Design IRSs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.
Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path froward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole.
Ensure the developed IRSs meet the specification requirements from the various element/configured item artifacts.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Basic Qualifications :
Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 5 years' experience; 3 years' experience with a Masters' degree; or 0 years' experience with a PhD
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 9 years' experience; 7 years' experience with a Masters' degree; or 4 years' experience with a PhD
Must be a US Citizen with an ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance
1 year of experience to systems engineering principles and processes
1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX, DOORs, CAMEO
1 year of proven experience to read and interpret technical drawings.
1 year experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations
Preferred Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship and an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years.
Current Sentinel Program PAR
Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.
Proven knowledge of specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model-based definition.
Proven knowledge of product development lifecycle
ICBM Experience
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team.
Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success.
Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.
1 year of experience in creating an IRS or IRS like product.
Salary Range: $90,400 - $142,700
Salary Range 2: $112,000 - $176,900
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
