Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking for a Principal/ Sr Principal Circuit Design Engineer (Electrical) . This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. This position will be located in Roy, UT .
What You'll Get To Do:
The Sentinel program is seeking a Circuit Design Engineer to join our team of creative and diverse engineers as a Guidance Computer (GC) Power Converter Designer. The GC is a high reliability, radiation hardened flight controller for the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle (AVE). The GC contains digital processing, digital I/O, and analog actuator/power I/O electronics functions.
Responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and testing high-reliability DC to DC switch mode power converters and drive electronics operating in an aerospace environment. The engineer will be working through all phases of the development process, ranging from design to product qualification and delivery. This position reports to the GC Unit Responsible Design Engineer.
Essential Functions:
Assist in developing power and control electronics architectures and generating requirements
Conduct circuit design, analysis, and simulations
Perform hardware testing and validation
Provide manufacturing test support on deliverable hardware
This position reports directly to the Guidance Computer Unit Responsible Design Engineer (RDE). This position permanently located in Roy, Utah. 10% travel.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Job Qualifications:
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Circuit Design Engineer : Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 5 years' experience; 3 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 0 years' experience with a PhD.
Sr Principal Circuit Design Engineer : Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 7 years' experience; 7 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 4 years' experience with a PhD.
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Must be ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment
Experience with electrical circuit design including architecture development, conceptual design,
Experience in power converter circuit design, analysis and verification
Experience using PSpice and/or MathCAD
DoD Secret security clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with switch mode power supply design, analysis, and simulation
Magnetics design experience for switch mode power supplies and filters
PCB layout methods to achieve low noise
Lab equipment experience, such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc.
Experience with EMI per MIL-STD-461
Salary Range: $90,400 - $135,600
Salary Range 2: $112,000 - $168,000
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
