Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a GBSD Wind Tunnel Systems Test Engineer/Lead. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.
The Wind Tunnel Systems Test Lead is responsible for the coordination and liaison between the design, fabrication, and test teams throughout the entire wind tunnel campaign lifecycle to characterize the GBSD launch vehicle environments to including staging. The Wind Tunnel Systems Test Lead assists with technical planning and development of Statements of Work (SOW) to derive the most efficient test execution plan. They are involved with all aspects of the effort, including project planning, estimating, instrumentation selection, procurement, shipping, transportation, and all other tasks needed to meet the test requirements. A critical aspect of the position is coordinating with the model designers and stress engineers to ensure the proper test setup and the acquisition of high quality data, which is the ultimate product of the project. The Wind Tunnel Systems Test Lead is the primary point of contact for coordination with internal customers and test facilities as well. Upon traveling to offsite test facilities, the Wind Tunnel Systems Test Lead then becomes the Test Conductor for the duration of the test. Detailed documentation of all design, fabrication, and test decisions, challenges, and lessons learned are summarized by the Wind Tunnel Systems Test Lead in posttest reports and summaries. Candidate must also prepare presentations that convey project status and assures challenges are communicated to leadership as needed, along with contributing towards the department's technical tools and resources.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Bachelors of Science in Engineering discipline or related STEM degree and 9 Years with Bachelors in Science OR 5 Years with Masters.
Experience with wind tunnel testing
Active DoD Secret clearance with most recent investigation completed within the last 6 years
BS or MS degree in Aerospace Engineering
Active DoD Top Secret clearance with most recent investigation completed within the last 6 years
Strong communication skills and ability to relay technical engineering findings to senior leadership
Ability to work well within team; be adaptive and effectively communicate with various personality types.
Experience as a test conductor for wind tunnel testing
Programming background in at least one of following: Matlab or Python
Position will require travel up to 25% of the time in order to support on-site test activities.
