Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking to add an Explosive Safety Engineer to its Safety Engineering team located in Roy, UT, Huntsville AL or Colorado Springs CO in support of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The Explosive Safety Engineer is expected support explosive safety activities as directed by 29 CFR 1910.109, DODM 6055.09/DESR 6055.09, AFMAN 91-201, AIAA-S-113 AFI 91-202, AFI 91-208, 11A-1-46, DODM 4145.26, and/or MIL-STD-882E. The Explosive Safety Engineer will be involved in assessing the designs of GBSD, facilities, test sites, and operational environment of GBSD, working with test and developing organizations to analyze and characterize explosives in the system, conducting site reviews, assessing explosive site plans, performing HERO assessments, and supporting the program to ensure it meets all program objectives in Roy, UT. The Explosive Safety Engineer will travel 10-20% of the time.

The successful candidate will have the following expereinces and capabilities

• Experience in explosives safety preferably using standards and processes such as 29 CFR 1910.109, DODM 6055.09/DESR 6055.09, AFMAN 91-201, AIAA-S-113 AFI 91-202, AFI 91-208, 11A-1-46, DODM 4145.26

• Ability to review technical schematics, drawings, plans and specifications on the system, and test and integration facilities and apply occupational safety requirements.

• Participating in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.

• Translate applicable regulations into program direction through writing plans, processes and procedures.

• Utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to sort through dynamic designs.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-

hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• 9 year of experience with Bachelors of Science Degree OR higher in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, or closely related technical discipline, 7 years if experience with a Masters Degree 4 years of expeirnce with a PhD

• 5 years' experience in explosive safety engineering using standards and processes such as 29 CFR 1910.109, DODM 6055.09/DESR 6055.09, AFMAN 91-201, AIAA-S-113, AFI 91-202, AFI 91-208, 11A-1-46, DODM 4145.26, (or equivalent standards)

• Active Secret clearance with investigation in the last 6 years

• Strong written and verbal communication skills of the English language

Preferred Qualifications:

• Weapon System Experience (Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience)

• Experience with MIL-STD-882E

Salary Ranges Minimum $ 98,496, Salary Maximum $147,744
