Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/ Senior Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This position will be permanently located in Roy, Utah. The start of the position will require frequent of travel to CA. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

The selected candidate will become part of the Post Boost IPT. He/she will be an Electrical Design Engineering lead responsible for routing and designing the 4th stage missile cable and harness design & assembly and electrical integration. The Engineer will lead a team of two or three and be the point of contact for one supplier.

The preferred candidate will have extensive experience with harness design on aircraft, spacecraft or launch vehicles, preferably the latter. He/she will preferably be an expert in military grade connector types, EMI/RFI cable design, and design for extreme environments.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead small teams of engineers in electrical design & integration and ensure proper standards and specifications are followed

  • Release Product Design Package (PDP) drawings within NX & CPLM for cables & harnesses, routing, and assemblies that meet military and aerospace standard processes.

  • Coordinate with wiring assembly routers to determine lengths and available space for components as required.

  • Generate Post Boost Attitude Control Module (PBACM) wiring diagrams for internal and external interfaces

  • Developing and presenting design reviews for internal and external customers

  • Design, Analysis, Procurement Support and Fabrication/Assembly Support for Wire Harness and RF Cables inclusive of Wire Shielding and grounding methodology, EMI/RFI (Electromagnetic Impulse/Radio Frequency Impulse), circuit redundancy and separation techniques

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Electrical Engineer or a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience; a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering or a STEM discipline plus 3 years of engineering experience; or a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a STEM discipline.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with investigation within the past 5 years

  • Harness design experience

  • Knowledgeable in 2D/3D CAD software, such as NX, CATIA

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline plus 9 years of engineering experience; a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering or a STEM discipline plus 7 years of engineering experience; or a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a STEM discipline plus 4 years of engineering experience.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with investigation within the past 5 years

  • Harness design experience

  • Knowledgeable in 2D/3D CAD software, such as NX, CATIA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current or active Top Secret/SCI clearance or higher highly preferred

  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution

  • EMI/RFI cable design

  • Strong CAD skills with experience developing wire diagrams or electrical schematic

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience presenting technical content to customers
