Northrop Grumman GBSD Principal Structural Engineer in Roy, Utah

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Structural Engineer who will function as a Mechanical Engineer/Structural Analyst to develop finite element models and analyses of infrastructure facilities for ground systems ICBMs for the GBSD program. The qualified candidate will be supporting a team of engineers to model and analyze all the GBSD facilities to the required loading. This includes highly complex loading and modeling using state of the art software. It also includes the testing and validation of designs. The qualified individual applies extensive technical expertise, and has knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering or other related field

  • 5 years of experience performing in a Structural Analyst or related technical discipline with BS and 3 years with MS

  • Secret Clearance required to start

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) programs or projects,

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience with FEM analysis of Concrete Structures

  • Experience with FEM software Abaqus

  • A current DoD Top Secret clearance with capability for SAP access

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers

  • Excellent technical writing skills, and team building skills

  • Experience with building codes and specs, especially military construction
