Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Manager - PST Transportation Equipment SMT Lead to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.

The Transporter Equipment IPT is responsible for the development and delivery of all GBSD unique transportation vehicles and associated support hardware to include, but not limited to, major custom designed vehicles such as the Transporter Erector, Payload Transporter, and Missile Transporter. The primary responsibilities of the transportation equipment SMT lead includes providing technical and administrative leadership and guidance to the program Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and Suppliers for developing the GBSD transportation equipment. This includes building and managing a team of both technical and program support personnel required to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance to both technical and contractual obligations, and ultimately to ensure on time delivery of high quality products that are compliant with the contract Statement of Work (SOW) requirements. This includes establishing a program project plan and schedule that is aligned with the IPT Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), meets program needs, and is executable by the supplier

What You'll Get To Do:

• Demonstrate strong technical and managerial leadership skills in the designs of specialty vehicles and associated components, products, and system interfaces in all phases of research and product lifecycle development, to include requirements, initial concepts, trade studies, early design influence, design and development, fabrication/procurement, engineering evaluation testing, verification, delivery of hardware, and support of delivered hardware

• Lead a dedicated team with expertise that includes technical, subcontract management, cost, contracts and other functions that are required to execute EMD

• Demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities

• Be an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholder

• Deliver all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions

• Develop support equipment proposals to include reviewing & updating Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW), performing technical evaluations on all supplier proposal submittals, and attending proposal related reviews

• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

• Create, review and finalize the program Statement of Work

• Participate in the establishment and management of the program and subordinate baselines

• Develop and adhere to master plans and schedules

• Identify, allocate and manage program resources, including workforce planning

• Develop and adhere to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools

• Identify risks and opportunities and coordinate with project teams to mitigate and retire risks

• Ensure the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities

• Adhere to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards

• Deliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders

• Travel required to support supplier integration and design validation activities

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Qualifications:

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and 5 years experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

• Demonstrated Project Management experience to include supplier management

• Demonstrated EVM knowledge and experience

• U.S. citizen

• Active DoD Secret clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Master's or PhD in engineering, Science Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline with a minimum of 14 years of relatable work experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Program Management of relevant military or commercial equipment

• Previous experience managing people

• Previous experience developing heavy weight transportation equipment or specialty vehicles

• Previous experience working ICBMs

• Intimate knowledge of state (CA, CO, NV, MT, ND, WY) and local Department of Transportation requirements and associated design implementation experience

• Experience in the nuclear surety aspects of nuclear weapon systems

• Active Top Secret Security Clearance

• Special background investigation within the past 5 years

• Experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle

• Systems engineering experience to include requirements analysis, trade studies, design solution development, acquisition, test, and validation

• Proficient in 3D modeling using NX or similar product

• Proficient with Teamcenter

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills

• Have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Travel is expected up to 25% of the time
