Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Level 3 GBSD Technician. This position will be located in Roy, Utah. The selected candidate will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

What You'll Get To Do:

The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's System Test Team supporting the Air Force's Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This will include integration and checkout of System Test equipment hardware, software and systems for system test facilities. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other engineers. Primary work location will be in Promontory Utah

Performs a variety of duties including, but not limited to, fastening, assembly, assisting engineers in the development of engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devises, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications. This is a highly skilled non exempt role and typically has a clearance (depending on program assignment), is deployed to multiple programs and must be able to perform more than one of the following duties: mechanical technician, engineering technician, electronic technician, flight test technician and/or general technician duties.

The successful applicant will:

Able to create mechanical assemblies based on design documentation

Able to read drawings, blueprints, diagrams and create work instructions/procedures

Utilize MS products; Word, Excel, and Visio.

Effectively communicate issues and help to provide solutions

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.



You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with an active secret clearance

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience

  • Prior experience in an integration, production, manufacturing or test environment or like type work in a military setting.

  • Experience with common hand tools and test equipment found in an integration, production, manufacturing or test environment.

  • Familiar with typical measuring devices and calibration equipment, calipers, scales, torque wrenches, ohm meters

  • Equipment troubleshooting experience.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Able to support shift work and occasional travel as needed

  • Experience in the use of industrial shop equipment, Drills, common hand tools. Skilled in troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions on multiple types of powered and non-powered equipment items.

  • Mechanical assembly background, using standard assembly processes
