Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Design Engineering Manager 3 for Mission Assurance. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here .
Roles and responsibilities:
Lead a team of Design Engineers through the review and approval process for the recently awarded Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program. Ensure final products and sub-systems are designed, developed, produced, and tested in accordance with design control regulations and customer statement of work
Select and hire Mission Assurance Design Engineers and/or Design Developers with the required skills to advance the program from infancy to full maturation
Be accountable for Design Assurance for every component, sub-assembly and final product through all program phases - from 'Engineering & Manufacturing Development' (EMD) through 'Production & Deployment' (P&D), Operations & Support (O&S).
Work with various integrated product team members and subcontractors to ensure sub-systems and final products are verified/validated to meet all customer and regulatory requirements
Develop engineering team through coaching, mentoring and performance management to deliver a world-class functional team
Support Risk Management processes throughout the product lifecycle from initial development through post market surveillance

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of Engineering experience OR a Master's Degree in Design Engineering or other STEM discipline and 5 years of experience
3 years of Management experience
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a group of Design Engineers with varying experience levels
Experience with key customer Quality Management and Quality Control Systems
A current/Active Top Secret clearance
Experience in Systems/Sub-Systems design
Experience with Model Based Engineering and Requirements Verification (DOORs, CAMEO, CPLM, etc.)
Experience in process monitoring, data collection, analysis, and metric reporting for a large program/supplier-base
Demonstrated ability prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
Excellent liaison between local personnel, suppliers, and customer workforce
Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and high aptitude with CAD model interrogation as required for first article compliance assessments
Prior supplier interface experience
Experience and understanding of AS9100 Quality System requirements and the intention of systems documentation
Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles
