Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is looking for a Director of Programs 2 to lead the GBSD Aerospace Vehicle Equipment Segment. This role reports to the GBSD Program Director and Vice President located in Roy, Utah at our new Roy Innovation Center adjacent to our customer at Hill AFB.

The primary objective will be the delivery of the segment subject to all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while complying with all program requirements and creating customer intimacy. The individual will lead a cross-functional organization aligned to common program performance goals.

AVE lead primary responsibilities are to direct the segment to execute to our GBSD statement of work and includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cultivating customer relationships and intimacy to build advocacy and strengthen lines of communication to support high performance execution

  • Establishing a program organization that effectively executes to the statement of work and customer expectations

  • Establishing an allocated baseline

  • Defining and maturing a compliant baseline design and establishing configuration control

  • Measuring and reporting program performance to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders

  • Participating in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions

  • Establishing and managing a vibrant risk and opportunity system supportive of high performance program execution

  • Executing program cost and schedule control utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM)

  • Identifying, allocating and managing program resources, including workforce planning

  • Managing Government/customer supplied property or information (GFE, CFE, etc.)

  • Collaborating with partners and managing suppliers to meet program objectives

  • Adhering to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards

  • Establishing and directing vigilant change management

  • Establishing and maintaining effective data sharing with our customer via the Digital Engineering Enterprise that is timely and accurate

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the execution of the scope of the GBSD program to plan

  • Be accountable for results that impact compliance with our program requirements

  • Be proactive in support the enterprise to win new business and identify opportunities to leverage our GBSD program activities

  • Up to 50% travel required


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries, OR a Master's of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries

  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience

  • Experience leading the execution of a major integrated product team to allocate and define requirements, requirements verification, design, build, test and deliver compliant, integrated flight hardware and software systems

  • Demonstrated success building and leading high performance teams/and or organizations to achieve common objectives

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills internally up, down and across and with customer organizations at all levels

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance, with an in-scope SSBI in the last 6 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GBSD TMRR program operations and USAF ICBM heritage programs

  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel

  • Masters degree in a STEM discipline
