Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Advanced Planning Lead (Manager 3) for the Digital Ecosystem Segment team in preparation for planning and capturing additional Engineering Manufacturing Development (EMD) and Production business for the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This position will be in Roy, UT with occasional travel to other spoke locations that support the Sentinel program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here .

Northrop Grumman was awarded a contract for the engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel program in September 2020. A program of mega-project scale, competitive flexibility and digital transformation are key to delivering a weapon system that will continue to evolve to outpace the threat and achieve and be affordably maintained and sustained over the expected 75+ year life. The Sentinel program modernizes nearly every facet of the land leg of the nuclear triad, including:

  • Developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile, including guidance, three stages of propulsion, payload reentry system and building 600+ missiles (400 deployed + spares for testing)

  • Completely refurbishing 450 buried launch facilities (silos) spread across ~39,000 square miles in five different states

  • Developing, building, and populating launch centers, similar to heritage missile alert facilities, at the three missile wings

  • Fielding new communications infrastructure and building/consolidating hundreds of support facilities, including for security, training, maintenance, and testing

What you will get to do:

Essential Functions:

  • Develop Capture and Production Planning Strategy and integrate across multiple digital ecosystem product teams for future Sentinel business positioning

  • Strategy Deployment Process: Lead the digital ecosystem process to develop and measure an integrated strategy aligned with program imperatives. Define objectives, strategic gaps, and outcomes needed to meet digital ecosystem business annual and long-range strategic goals.

  • Mission and Capability Roadmaps: Assess and influence long-term mission needs to identify future capabilities needed within the digital ecosystem segment, investments necessary to close the gap, and acquisition strategies to deliver capability to mission.

  • Strategic Gap Analysis: Lead strategic gap analysis within the digital ecosystem segment to identify technology, capability, or process gaps, prioritize them, and align resources to meet them.

  • Internal Investment (NCTA) and Capital Allocation Planning: Drive processes to prioritize investment and capital requests, aligned with program strategy and gaps, and allocate resources within the digital ecosystem segment. Develop candidates for technology gap funding within the program and advocate for those resources.

  • Proposal Responses: Lead proposal development effort for digital ecosystem, utilizing developed strategies to feed the greater Sentinel Program. Work with suppliers on proposal coordination and relationship building to a common capture plan.

  • Assist digital ecosystem segment IPTs and the Functions in meeting affordability management goals and establish affordability progress metrics

  • Ability to lead a small team of analysts and tech writers to execute job functions

  • Maintains on-going interaction with Sentinel Strategy and Capture Leadership and digital ecosystem segment Program Mgmt.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or Business (Economics, Business Administration…) disciplines from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Masters Degree in a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience.

  • 4 years of formal management experience in product team leadership, or program management, or capture / proposal work, or business management.

  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain SAP or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Civil Engineering or Masters of Business Administration preferred

  • Experience with large Defense Acquisition Proposal Development or Business Capture Management

  • Background in large scale, high-rate production planning and execution

  • Understanding or experience of full rate production economic strategies and supply chain management

  • Previous experience developing "price to win" targets and cost reduction initiatives in a large program affordability office

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and meet program commitments in a highly fluid engineering environment

  • Ability to effectively maneuver through muti function teams, political situations and anticipate roadblocks

  • Previous experience with Large Program Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Methods, and Tools

  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary Range: $152,100 - $228,100

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
