Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager, Systems Engineering Level 2 position within Central Region Engineering (CRE) at our Rolling Meadows, IL location.
The selected candidate is expected to manage the RF Systems Definition and Architecture team of approximately 25 engineers in support of three business operating units at the Rolling Meadows campus. The Systems Definition and Architecture team provides engineering leadership to develop the systems requirements, CONOPS, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE), and architectures on assigned programs. This team is comprised of chief engineers and system architects.
Functional managers are responsible for their team's overall technical execution and performance to allocated cost and schedule requirements on assigned programs, while also providing technical contributions on programs as an individual contributors and subject matter experts. This manager will lead their team to ensure adherence to standard SEIT processes and provide oversight to the technical quality of their team's execution on supported programs. Manager oversight responsibilities will include review and approval of technical and cost proposals developed by their team. This manager will provide support to hiring, staffing and workload forecasting activities including identification and training of skills required to execute on programs. They will also provide employee mentoring, career development, and training opportunities to their assigned team. Other responsibilities include the management and execution of the employee performance review processes.
A summary of responsibilities as a subject matter expert include:
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
BS degree or higher in an engineering / technical discipline.
Minimum of 7 years' related experience, preferably in an aerospace or defense oriented engineering environment.
Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environment.
Demonstrated experience in both technical and cost proposal development.
High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.
DoD Secret clearance.
At least 3 years of project management / IPT leadership / control account management experience.
Experience working in a systems engineering, integration, and test environment
Experience with the Agile-Scrum development methodology.
Experience with RF Electronic Warfare Systems or related defense system
Experience leading large cross functional development projects.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
Current SAP/SAR accesses.
MS degree or higher in Engineering or Technical discipline.
