Northrop Grumman Manager Engineering 2, MMIC & RFIC Design in Rolling Meadows, Illinois
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a leader to manage one of its Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) and Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) design engineering teams. This group is responsible for architecting, designing, verifying, and supporting existing and future microwave integrated circuit designs including trading requirements, schematic capture, schematic simulation, circuit layout, electro-magnetic simulation, physical verification, and device test and characterization. Designs support electronic sensor capabilities utilizing different device technologies (GaAs, GaN, InP, SiGe, etc.) across multiple internal and external foundries. This position is a dual role encompassing both people leadership and technical performance.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Lead an engineering design functional group of 10 to 15 engineers including performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning
Provide project and technical oversight for design activities performed by the group
Maintain and ensure application of design processes and guidelines used in the group
Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers
Collaborate with peer managers to ensure consistency across multiple work groups
Support department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and internally funded project leadership
This position is located in Rolling Meadows, IL. This position reports to the manager of the RF Apertures & Devices department within Eastern Region Hardware Engineering based in Baltimore, MD. The position will also have a dotted line relationship to the Rolling Meadows Director of Hardware Engineering. The candidate must be adept at cross-campus collaboration and telecommunication. Quarterly travel to Baltimore, MD is required.
Bachelorâ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering or Technical degree
Minimum7 years of related engineering experience including responsibility as an integrated product team or technical lead
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic understanding of RF electronics
Must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance
Masterâ€™s degree in Engineering, Business Management, Engineering Leadership, or equivalent
12 years of experience in a multi-disciplined engineering environment
Demonstrated success leading high performance teams as technical, integrated product team, and/or functional leader
RF product design, fabrication, and integration experience including, but not limited to, products in high reliability military applications
Position prefers a candidate with a current Secret or Top Secret Clearance
