Northrop Grumman's Space Systems (NGSP) sector is looking for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect who will support the Chief Architect in various aspects of aligning capabilities to missions, driving a broader adoption of MBSE, better leveraging Modeling & Simulation capabilities, and collaborating with the Joint All-Domain Command & Control (JADC2) and National Space Security (NSS) Campaigns.
The initial priority for this individual is expected be the development of a cross-system architecture for the Payload & Ground Systems Division. This System Architect will build up a novel architecture focused on identifying the systems across the PGS Division and how they interact in order to derive opportunities for discriminating architectures, affordability and customer-facing communications. This architecture will complement the division and sector's technology development roadmap and the opportunity pipeline to facilitate a more optimal allocation of NCTA to mature technology and cross-business unit collaboration.
The individual will have the opportunity to build up an MBSE model from scratch, but informed from existing artifacts, that reaches across the entire division and interfaces with the NGSP's Chief Technology Office and JADC2 and NSS Campaigns. The individual will get a broad understanding of the full division portfolio of programs and capabilities. This role is an individual contributor type role with significant impact across the division and its programs.
Travel to meet with programs and division leadership will be required on an ad hoc basis as required to develop and review the architecture.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 9+ years of relevant experience; OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7+ years of experience; OR PhD with 4+ years of experience.
Model Based Systems Engineering domain expertise with tract record of developing system architectures in Cameo Enterprise Architect.
Experience with collaborating with stakeholders to define system architectures and requirements.
Ability to handle ambiguity and to refine and achieve objectives with minimal oversight
Experience in the space domain with the ability to create a clear and concise architecture from various input sources and formats
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Active DoD Top Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Active SCI Clearance
Experience with Digital Engineering applications, including requirements management, performance modeling and simulation, CAD/CAM, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), data analytics tools, or risk management.
Systems Engineering experience with large, complex systems.
Experience on multiple space programs with a knowledge of the technologies and missions related to the work that PGSD performs
Experience and understanding of the complete program lifecycle, including relationships and data flows between concept definition, requirements, design, development, production, system verification and deployment, and operations and maintenance or sustainment.
Salary Range: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
