The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you'll get to do?

The Software I&T Manager is responsible for managing a team of approximately 20 software developers and testers who are responsible for the development, integration & test of multiple ground element software baselines at various stages of the development lifecycle. Candidate will work closely with the Ground Element Software Assistant Program Manager (APM) and will be responsible for directing all software integration and test aspects from inception through completion. The manager will be tasked with setting and operating to objectives and providing guidance to employees, including implementation of process improvements in test automation and DevOps. Candidate will serve as Control Account Manager across multiple CLINs, with responsibilities including planning, risk management and project performance, as well as addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for related software activities. The candidate will have significant interaction with senior program and customer leadership, leading and presenting status at technical exchange meetings, design walkthroughs and selloff.

The Software I&T Manager will also provide leadership and oversight of the Ground Element SW Information Assurance Team. This role manages a team providing design and implementation of security for software that is part of a large, complex code base, validating Cyber Security controls documented in requirements. You will be serving as a liaison between Cybersecurity/IA team and Software sub-projects, with continuous coordination and interfacing with Systems Engineering, the System Administration team, external customers, and site personnel.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills and professional development/mentoring skills

  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal direction and oversight, and mentor junior engineers.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements, streamline activities, and develop effective processes

  • Ideal candidates will have technical background in ground system design, software development, software integration & test


Basic Qualifications:

  • 14 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 12 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 9 years of relevant experience with a PhD

  • Experience in software development deliverables and processes

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI access or active SCI access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AMP or M1 program domain knowledge preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills
