Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Redondo Beach, CA .
This opening is for a Sr. Principal Engineer to be part of the Global Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing organization to perform Production and Sustainment technical support activities for Aeronautics Aircraft Platforms.
Responsibilities include alignment of qualified supply chain to current and future demands. The position provides technical oversight, supplier recommendations and guidance to Supplier Management personnel, and interfaces with program engineering on all associated aspects of concept and design required to execute source controlled or build to packages released to supply chain successfully. Responsible to proactively identify and mitigate potential supply chain gaps, identify and develop new capabilities to address incongruities to existing manufacturing industry capabilities.
Candidate will be responsible with minimal support for analyzing engineering design concepts, review bill of materials and recommend obsolete alternatives, assembly theory, fabrication drawings, manufacturing processes and procedures, qualification testing, product screening, inspection requirements, counterfeit mitigation, procurement requirements, verification requirements, and aligning supply chain to required fabrication capabilities and capacity in support of Aeronautics platform applications for assigned commodities.
Development of qualified supply chain capabilities within the field of electrical wire harness, RF cable assembly and fiber-optic fabrication, and electromechanical control systems.
Responsible for providing technical support to purchasing organizations for array of electronic hardware, sub-systems and software.
Interpret electrical schematics, bill of material, for proper selection of electrical components, printed circuit board assembly, embedded circuits, microcontrollers, breakers, resistors, relays and non-electronic components to achieve engineering requirements.
Review NGC and customer technical specifications; validate requirements for design, and manufacturing milestones to support award and component deliverables from supply chain partners.
Technical responsibilities to determine proper commodity designations, individual specification and hardware deliverables per Government Qualified Product Database and customer Qualified Product List requirements.
Support internal technical and non-technical review meetings as required.
Develop sourcing business prospects and maintain project schedules using MS Project and/or other reporting and presentation tools.
Provide support to GSC representatives at formal Engineering Technical Review meetings, and/or Configuration Review Boards and Change Boards.
Arrange for liaison between Northrop Grumman Global Supply Chain, Suppliers and Customers including technical team counterpart representatives.
Perform root cause investigation and implement corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances and improve manufacturing process repeatability.
Creation of affordability initiates to advance capabilities and control lead-times of assigned commodities.
Candidate should succeed in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative team settings across all levels professional and technical. Applicant must be comfortable and willing to handle administrative and technical demands. Understand ERP system requirements and be able to work in partnership with metallurgy and process engineering, system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.
