Northrop Grumman Principal Systems Engineer/Senior Principal Systems Engineer - RF Antenna Site Installation Lead in Redondo Beach, California

The Payload and Ground Systems (PGS) division of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector seeks team members who want to solve interesting, complex problems which protect our nation. We are a trusted mission payload and ground system provider with extensive experience providing end-to-end mission solutions from concept through operations and support. The team you will support is located at our Space Park campus in Redondo Beach, CA.

What you'll get to do?

As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will lead an RF antenna site installation team. You will review and implement electronic design, integration and validation of an RF ground terminal including large aperture antenna system and electronics. Additionally, you will develop Site Implementation Plans.

Experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • RF signal processing, gain budgets including implementation losses from antenna to digital signal processors of Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and internal products

  • Large aperture full motion antenna systems

  • COTS tailoring experience

  • Software defined radios, familiarity with RF test equipment

  • Networking

  • Factory acceptance test experience

  • Integration with terminal electronics at Intermediate Frequency (IF)

  • Experience installing at worldwide locations

This role may be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer grade based on the qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:

  • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or active SCI access

  • Ability to travel 50%

  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer:

  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or active SCI access

  • Ability to travel 50%

  • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile development

  • Effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers

  • Knowledge of communication theory and experience with antenna systems

  • Experience with ITAR and international agreements
