Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Materials and Process Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
Responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
Provide support to multiple aircraft programs in both unclassified and classified environments; be responsible for new conceptual layouts, detailed engineering designs of structural composites, modifications, integration of advanced materials, drawing reviews, and performing detailed technical reviews.
Collaborate with Global Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to review and assess materials, processes, manufacturing procedures to mitigate risk for first article inspections
Work directly with suppliers and audit as needed to ensure F35 Engineering and M&P specifications are being met and to solve problems to ensure continuous part delivery.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer Material Process:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degrees along with 5+ years' engineering experience; or a Master's degree in STEM along with 3+ years' engineering experience
Experience working with sealants, organic/inorganic coatings, corrosion mitigation, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft structures
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Engineer Material Process:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degrees along with 9+ years' engineering experience; or a Master's degree in STEM along with 7+ years' engineering experience.
Experience working with sealants, organic/inorganic coatings, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, corrosion mitigation, and repair processes for aircraft structures
Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science Degree or other STEM degree.
Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports.
7+ years of aircraft/spacecraft design experience, including material testing and qualification efforts, detailed drawing reviews, and supporting build.
Experience working on military aircrafts.
Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
