Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systemsis seeking a Parts, Materials, and Process Engineer 3 to work in Redondo Beach,California.

ThisPM&P Engineer will be tasked with supporting the Metallurgy and MetalsProcessing section. The ideal candidate will have technical working experiencewith heat treatment, brazing, welding, forging, and/or chemical processing.

ThePM&P Engineer analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials andtheir related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimizematerials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures,systems and subsystems. This individual applies principles of chemistry,physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and compositematerial and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Thecandidate develops, analyzes and applies material properties and designallowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications.

Essential Functions

  • Materialanalysis

  • Failureanalysis of components, systems, and subsystems

  • Materiallife predictions

  • Definitionand requirement specifications.

  • Reviewand approve subcontractor material processing procedures

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 5 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment OR

  • Masters of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 3 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment

  • Practical working experience with heattreatment and chemical processing

  • Technical experience with materialanalysis, failure analysis, and component analysis

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoDSecret Security Clearance and SCI access

PreferredQualifications:

  • Masters’ Degree in ElectricalEngineering, Physics, or Computer Science

  • Possesses strong leadershipqualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Active In-Scope Secret SecurityClearance with SCI Program Access

  • Experience applying principles inmaterial behavior to develop metallic processing specifications
