Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineering Manager 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Space Park, Redondo Beach, California.

The MSE Manager role oversees the Requirements and Verification, Thread Engineering, and Configuration Management for the Next Gen Polar program. This role reports directly to the NGP Chief Engineer. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead Mission Thread Engineering in the following areas, by coordinating across space and ground IPTs, and with customer SMEs, to ensure mission intent is met:

  • OPIR Performance

  • Enterprise Missile Warning Performance

  • Resiliency

  • Cyber Security

  • Mission Management

  • Operational Availability

  • Nuclear Survivability

  • Communications

  • Provide technical vision for thread engineering team to develop expertise and maintain historical knowledge for each requirement through sell off, covering horizontal integration across the system (i.e. space and ground), vertical integration (i.e., segment, element, subsystem, unit), and interfaces.

  • Ensure that end-to-end NGP System performance and functionality that cross configured items are rigorously decomposed in requirements allocation documents (RADs) to successfully execute mission intent as described in the System specification and OPSCON

  • Establish and maintain the technical baseline requirements (all NGP Class One Specifications to the Customer)

  • Develop and maintain NGP system level requirements, and coordinate system level interface traceability across IPTs

  • Oversee development of Design Reference Missions and supporting verification databases

  • Support the Program Engineering Review Board (PERB) change management process Class One Specifications and ICDs

  • Lead the program verification effort, including updating and maintaining the Program Verification Plan and coordination of the System-level Verification Cross-Reference Matrix (VCRM), Verification Activity Matrix (VAM), and Verification Sell-off Ledger (VSOL) across IPTs and with the Customer

  • Lead definition of NGP mission functions and performance that cross interfaces with the Next Gen OPIR Enterprise, providing feedback to customer on Enterprise products and reviews and support to Enterprise requirements and verification

  • Direct the Configuration Management for the program, in compliance with Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) 649B. This includes the effort to plan and manage configuration planning, configuration change control, configuration identification, configuration status accounting, configuration verification and audit, and the support of CDRL deliveries.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 7+ years of experience in engineering (5+ with a MS STEM degree, 3+ with a PhD STEM degree)

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance AND active SCI

  • Demonstrated previous leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math

  • Previous experience with OPIR and/or Missile Warning Systems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Prior leadership experience in Systems Engineering
